Overview

Virtualization technology is rapidly transforming the information technology landscape, shrinking the footprint of the data center, and fundamentally changing the way people compute.

The VMware approach to virtualization inserts a thin layer of software directly on the computer hardware or on a host operating system. The software layer hosts virtual machines and contains a virtual machine monitor or “hypervisor”. The hypervisor allocates hardware resources dynamically and transparently so multiple operating systems can run concurrently on a single physical computer without affecting one another.

AOS’ VMware Solutions include:

  • VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3 (VI3): For server consolidation, high availability, and disaster recovery
  • VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB): VMware Consolidated Backup enables LAN-free backup of virtual machines from a centralized proxy server
  • VMware Lab Manager: Automates the rapid setup and teardown of lab environments
  • VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI): Manage remote PCs centrally, securely and seamlessly with no modifications to your applications using VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

VMware: Virtual Infrastructure 3

VMware Virtual Infrastructure is the most widely deployed software suite for optimizing and managing industry standard IT environments through virtualization – from the desktop to the data center.

The only production ready virtualization software suite, VMware Virtual Infrastructure is proven to deliver results. More than 100,000 customers - including 100% of the Fortune 100 - trust VMware as their virtualization platform. VMware VI3 is fully optimized, rigorously tested and certified for the widest range of hardware, operating Systems, and software applications.

VMware Virtual Infrastructure provides built-in management, resource optimization, and operational automation capabilities. VMware VI3 delivers transformative cost savings, increased operational efficiency, and flexibility.

Virtual Lab Manager

VMware LabManager:

VMware Lab Manager is a new class of software for development and test infrastructure that automates the rapid setup and teardown of even the most complex multi-machine software configurations.
  • Pool and share server, networking, storage and other resources amongst development and test teams and individuals
  • Provide every developer or test engineer the equivalent of their own fully equipped data center with dedicated provisioning staff
  • Automatically and rapidly set up and tear down complex development and test configurations
  • Suspend and capture a multi-system configuration exhibiting a bug or other unexpected behavior during testing, ensuring reproducibility at debug time
  • Maintain a complete library of customer and production system environments for use on demand.
  • Efficiently move and share multi-machine configurations across software development and test teams and facilities

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

Enable your organization to host desktops inside virtual machines running on centralized servers in a data center using VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). Users can access their virtual desktops remotely from a traditional PC, thin client or re-purposed computer using a remote display protocol.

VDI enables you to

  • Manage desktops centrally, simplifying desktop installations, backups, and maintenance.
  • Control access to sensitive data and intellectual property by maintaining information in a secure data center.
  • Provide individual isolated virtual desktops to end users that look and feel like their normal desktop.

VDI gives you the benefits of server-based computing without the limitations of shared services, technologies, or the application integration hassles.

VDI

Customer Benefits

  • Desktop environments are isolated
  • Data is secure in the data center
  • All applications work in a virtual machine
  • Normal management tools work in a virtual machine
  • Images are managed centrally
  • Hardware can be consolidated
  • Desktops are always on and always connected
  • Users have access to their desktops from anywhere
