Harrisonville Schools Partner with AOS for Email and Data Archiving Needs

The Harrisonville Cass R-IX School District’s mission is to achieve excellence in education. True to its creed, Harrisonville has been honored by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for Distinction in Performance the past two years. The district is home to approximately 2,300 students grades K—12, with an impressive student-to-teacher ratio of 17:1.

Harrisonville Cass R-IX School District partnered with AOS to resolve an issue they faced regarding the need to add more storage to an existing EMC Clarion SAN. AOS suggested adding Email Extender and Disk Extender instead of increasing storage. David Vignery, Director of Technology, thought this was the best solution from both a cost and management perspective.

“This decision has been great for our management of the data and it has cut our storage size of the network in half. Without a doubt this was the best decision for our district to make. Not only has it helped in saving storage space but it has also helped us to put in place an email retention policy. We are capturing all of our emails and archiving them for 5 years. All of this is possible due to the fact that we added Email and Disk Extender instead of adding storage,” David explained.

Doug Hanshaw, AOS account manager for the district adds, “Many school districts today are faced with the challenge of retaining email and data files for legal purposes. Email Extender and Disk Extender provide clients such as Harrisonville with the capability to easily archive and retrieve important information in a very short amount of time. In the past, this process was quite cumbersome.”

Harrisonville has partnered with AOS for many years. David commented on our long relationship. When asked of any weaknesses, David said that “AOS has not shown many weaknesses in the last 5 years of doing business. Everyone makes mistakes and this would be a weakness if AOS did not care, but they have always backed everything they do for us. So I would say again that I do not have a weakness to talk about regarding AOS.”

“AOS and Harrisonville are a model for how we like to conduct business. Together we developed a plan and this is yet another successful phase that will allow this school district to streamline their operations,” Hanshaw adds.

David “would like to thank AOS for what they bring to the table every time [Harrisonville is] looking for a solution.”
